Job Summary
As an Immunization Program Coordinator, your job will be to make sure that people in San Diego County get the vaccines they need to stay healthy. You will help plan events where people can get vaccines, like flu shots or other important vaccines. You will also teach people why vaccines are important and work with health experts to make sure everyone is protected from sickness. Your job will be very important in keeping everyone safe and healthy in our community.
Responsibilities
As an Immunization Program Coordinator, here’s what you’ll do every day:
- Organize Vaccination Events: You’ll help plan and run clinics where people can get their vaccines.
- Talk to the Community: You’ll share information with people about the importance of getting vaccinated to keep everyone safe from diseases.
- Track Vaccines: You’ll keep track of how many people get their vaccines and make sure that the information is accurate.
- Work with Other Healthcare Providers: You’ll work closely with doctors, nurses, schools, and other community groups to make sure people have access to vaccines.
- Teach Others: You’ll help teach others about vaccines and why they’re so important.
- Make Sure Everything is Safe: You’ll check to make sure that the vaccination events follow all rules and keep people safe.
- Help with Funding: You’ll help find money to support the program so that we can continue helping people get vaccinated.
- Represent the Program: You’ll talk about the importance of vaccines at meetings and events to help more people understand how vaccines can help them.
Qualifications
To be a good fit for this job, you should have the following skills:
Required Skills
- Good Communication: You need to be able to talk to people and explain things clearly. This is important when talking to families, doctors, and other people.
- Organization: You need to be good at keeping track of things, like how many people got their vaccines and when the next vaccination event is happening.
- Problem-Solving: Sometimes things don’t go as planned, so you should be able to think of ways to fix problems.
- Teamwork: You should be good at working with others, like your teammates or people from other groups, to make the program successful.
- Cultural Awareness: It’s important to understand and respect the different cultures and backgrounds of the people you will be working with.
- Basic Computer Skills: You’ll need to know how to use a computer to keep track of information and make reports.
Preferred Skills
- Bilingual: If you can speak another language, like Spanish, it would be helpful because it will help you talk to more people in the community.
- Experience in Health Programs: If you’ve worked in a health-related job before, that’s a plus.
- Knowledge About Vaccines: If you already know about the different vaccines and when they should be given, that would be great.
Education and Experience
- Education: You need at least a high school diploma or a degree in public health, nursing, or a similar field. If you have a college degree in public health, that’s even better!
- Experience: It helps if you have worked in a health-related job before, especially if you have experience with vaccines or public health programs.
