Job Introduction:
Do you care about helping people stay healthy? Public Health Services is looking for a Chronic Disease Epidemiologist in Harris County, Houston, Texas. As a Chronic Disease Epidemiologist, you will help find out why people get sick with diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. You will also help stop these diseases from spreading. Job Summary:
As a Chronic Disease Epidemiologist, you will work with other health experts to study how chronic diseases happen and how to prevent them. You will collect information, look at data, and create plans to help people live healthier lives. This is a very important job because it helps keep our community healthy and strong. You will be a part of a team that works hard to make people’s lives better by preventing long-term health problems.
Responsibilities:
Here are some of the important things you will do as a Chronic Disease Epidemiologist:
- Collect Data: You will gather information about diseases from places like hospitals and health surveys.
- Study Diseases: You will study how and why chronic diseases happen and find ways to stop them.
- Create Health Programs: You will help create programs that teach people how to prevent diseases like diabetes and heart problems.
- Work with Other Experts: You will work with doctors, nurses, and community leaders to help people stay healthy.
- Follow Up: You will check how well health programs are working and make them better if needed.
- Help Make Health Policies: You will give advice to leaders about what should be done to help reduce chronic diseases in the community.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this job, we are looking for someone who is good at working with numbers and loves to help people. Here’s what we need from you:
Required Skills:
- Data Skills: You should be good at collecting and looking at numbers to find out what’s going on with people’s health.
- Communication Skills: You will need to explain your findings clearly to people, including doctors, community groups, and the public.
- Problem Solving: You need to be able to look at data and figure out how to solve problems.
- Teamwork: You will need to work with other people to come up with solutions and share ideas.
- Attention to Detail: You need to be careful when working with information to make sure it is accurate.
- Project Skills: You should be good at managing projects, making sure things get done on time.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Chronic Diseases: If you’ve worked with diseases like diabetes or heart disease before, that would be a big plus.
- Health Programs: If you have helped create health programs in the past, that’s a great skill to have.
- Public Health Knowledge: If you know about health rules and policies, that will help you do your job better.
- Community Outreach: If you’ve worked with community groups or taught people about health, that’s also helpful.
Education and Experience:
We need someone who has the right education and experience to do this job:
- Education: You need a Master’s degree in Public Health or a similar field. If you have a Doctoral degree (like a Ph.D.), that’s even better, but not required.
- Experience: You need to have worked in public health or a similar field for at least 2 years. It’s especially helpful if you have experience working with chronic diseases or health programs.
Location: Harris County, Houston, Texas
This job is based in Harris County, which is in Houston, Texas. Houston is a big city with lots of people, and it’s a great place to work in health. You will work with a lot of different people to improve their health and make sure they have access to important resources.
Salary and Benefits:
We offer a good salary and benefits to make sure you are taken care of while you work. The salary for this job is between $65,000 and $85,000 per year, depending on your experience and education.
