Job Summary
As a Health Outreach Coordinator, your job will be to help spread health knowledge to the community. You will work with people in Harris County to teach them about healthy habits, disease prevention, and how to get medical help. You will also help organize health events like health fairs, where people can learn more about staying healthy.

Your Main Responsibilities
As a Health Outreach Coordinator, your tasks will include:
1. Organizing Health Events
- Plan and set up events like health fairs, where people can get free health checkups and learn about staying healthy.
- Make sure everything is ready for these events, like gathering materials and setting up tables.
2. Teaching People About Health
- Talk to people in the community about important health topics like nutrition, exercise, and how to avoid getting sick.
- Share health information through workshops, flyers, and other materials.
3. Helping People Find Healthcare
- Help people find doctors or clinics where they can get medical help.
- Answer questions about where to get health services like vaccines or check-ups.
4. Collecting Information
- Gather feedback from people who attend events to see how helpful they were.
- Keep track of the health programs and events to see how well they are working.
5. Building Relationships
- Work with local organizations, schools, and healthcare providers to bring health programs to the community.
- Make sure you understand the needs of the people you’re helping and build strong connections with them.
6. Working with a Team
- Work together with other coordinators and health workers to share ideas and support each other.
What Skills You Need
To do well in this job, you should have these skills:
Required Skills:
- Great Communication Skills: You should be able to talk clearly and explain health topics in a way that everyone can understand.
- Organizational Skills: You need to keep track of events, people, and important information.
- Friendly and Outgoing: You should enjoy talking to different people and building relationships with them.
- Problem-Solving: You’ll need to think of ways to help people who might not have easy access to healthcare.
- Public Speaking: You should be comfortable speaking in front of groups, like during a health event or workshop.
- Cultural Sensitivity: It’s important to respect and understand the different backgrounds of the people you work with.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge About Health: It helps to know about things like exercise, nutrition, and disease prevention.
- Event Planning Experience: If you have experience organizing events, it’s a bonus.
- Bilingual: If you speak Spanish or another language, it will help you reach more people in the community.
- Experience in Public Health: If you’ve worked with health programs before, that’s great!
Education and Experience
Education:
- A high school diploma is required.
- If you have an Associate’s degree or training in Public Health or a related field, it’s a plus, but not required.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience working with people, especially in community outreach, is preferred.
- Experience in health education or helping others in your community is a big plus!

Job Location
This job is in Harris County, Houston, Texas. You will need to travel around the county to help with events and meet with people in different areas.
