What You’ll Do
As a Clinical Research Coordinator, you will help with different tasks that keep research projects on track. Here’s what you’ll do:
1. Help with Clinical Research Studies
You will help organize and manage clinical research studies. These are projects where doctors and researchers test new treatments and medicines to help patients.
2. Recruiting People for Research
You will talk to patients and help find people who are eligible to join research studies. You’ll explain what the study is about and help them decide if they want to participate.
3. Collecting and Tracking Information
You will gather and keep track of important information from the study, like what happens to the patients. This information needs to be written down carefully so the research team can use it to make decisions.
4. Making Sure Patients Are Safe
Your job is to keep an eye on the patients who are part of the research. If something goes wrong, you’ll need to let the doctors and researchers know right away.
5. Working with a Team
You will work with a lot of different people—doctors, nurses, researchers, and other helpers. Everyone has a role, and you’ll help make sure everyone works together smoothly.
6. Following Rules
There are many rules about how research must be done. You will make sure the research follows these rules, so the patients are safe and the results are accurate.
7. Helping with Paperwork
You will also help with some paperwork, like scheduling meetings, making sure all the forms are filled out, and keeping track of the research budget.
8. Learning and Growing
There will be lots of chances for you to learn new things in this job. You will get to attend training sessions to become better at your job.
What Skills You’ll Need
Required Skills
To do this job well, you will need:
- Good Communication: You need to talk to patients and your team members clearly. It’s important to explain things simply so everyone understands.
- Organizational Skills: You’ll be in charge of many different tasks, so it’s important to keep everything organized. You’ll need to keep track of information, appointments, and paperwork.
- Attention to Detail: It’s very important to be careful and accurate in this job. You’ll be writing down information and working with patient data, so you must make sure everything is correct.
- Problem-Solving: Sometimes things won’t go as planned. You’ll need to find solutions and help solve problems to keep things moving forward.
- Teamwork: You’ll work with doctors, nurses, researchers, and other staff. You need to work well with others and be a helpful team player.
Preferred Skills
It’s also helpful if you have:
- Experience with Research: If you have worked on research projects before, that’s great! But don’t worry if you don’t have experience—if you’re eager to learn, we’ll train you.
- Knowledge of Research Tools: If you know how to use research software or computers for data entry, that’s a plus.
- Bilingual: If you can speak more than one language, it’s helpful for talking to a wider group of people.
- Certification: If you have special certificates for research or healthcare, that’s a bonus, but it’s not required.
Education and Experience
Education
To qualify for this job, you need:
- A High School Diploma or GED (general education diploma).
- A college degree (Bachelor’s degree) in a field like science, healthcare, or nursing is helpful, but not required.
Experience
It’s good if you have at least 1-2 years of experience in healthcare or working with patients. If you don’t have experience with clinical research, that’s okay! If you are willing to learn, we’ll help train you for the job.
