Job Description

Kaiser Permanente is looking for a friendly and helpful Call Center Representative. This is an on-call job at the West Los Angeles Medical Center. In this role, you will help Kaiser Permanente members by answering calls, scheduling appointments, and giving them information. You will work in a busy medical office, talking to patients and medical staff to make sure things run smoothly. Responsibilities

As a Call Center Representative, your job will involve many different tasks that help Kaiser Permanente members get the care they need. Here are the main things you will do:

1. Answering Calls & Scheduling Appointments
   • Answer calls from members and be friendly and professional.
   • Find out what type of appointment the member needs.
   • Schedule appointments for doctors or specialists, and make sure everything is correct.
   • If the member needs help quickly, offer solutions or suggest other options.
   • If there’s a problem with the appointment, help fix it and make sure the member is happy.
2. Handling Urgent Calls
   • If a member calls with an urgent issue, listen carefully and, if needed, transfer them to a nurse.
3. Writing Messages & Using Databases
   • Write messages for doctors, nurses, or other medical staff based on what the member asks.
   • Use computer systems to find information for members or medical staff when needed.
   • Update member details, like their contact information or medical records.
4. General Office Work
   • Do office tasks, like updating member information and processing appointment requests.
   • Keep records of the calls you handle and the tasks you complete.
5. Helping New Employees
   • Help train and guide new team members to make sure they understand how to do their job well.
   • Be a helpful teammate to others and share advice when needed.
6. Follow Rules & Keep Information Private
   • Follow all of Kaiser Permanente’s rules, including privacy rules that keep member information safe.
   • Make sure to always act honestly and follow ethical guidelines.

Qualifications

To be a Call Center Representative at Kaiser Permanente, you will need the following:

• Experience:
  • At least one year of customer service experience, especially in a healthcare-related job, is preferred. If you already work at Kaiser Permanente, this experience requirement is waived.
• Education:
  • You must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Skills:
  • You need good phone skills and be able to talk to people politely and clearly.
  • You should know how to use a computer and look up information for members.
  • You must be able to speak and write in English well.
  • You will need to pass a Customer Care Simulation assessment. This test helps show if you are ready for the job.
• Other Requirements:
  • You must complete some tests like a Service Orientation Assessment and, if you are not already a Kaiser employee, a proofreading assessment.
  • Since this is an on-call job, you need to be flexible with your hours. The hours might change depending on the department’s needs.
