The Program Assistant will help support the Transplant Service Department at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. In this job, you will assist Transplant Coordinators to make sure everything runs smoothly for patients needing transplants. Your work will include managing phone calls, scheduling appointments, updating patient records, and helping with other tasks that support the transplant team.

• Pay: $15.00 – $22.33 an hour
• Shift and Schedule:
  • 12-hour shifts (4 days a week)
  • Night shifts: 6 PM to 6 AM
  • Alternating weekly shifts
• Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required
• Experience: No experience needed
• Supervisor Experience: None required
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree
  • 2-5 years of experience in a related job

Responsibilities

As a Program Assistant, your job will include the following tasks:

1. Helping with Office Tasks:
   • Answer phone calls from patients and staff, and make sure the right person gets the message.
   • Keep patient records updated with correct information.
   • Help make sure everything follows rules and guidelines.
2. Scheduling Appointments:
   • Help schedule, cancel, or reschedule patient appointments.
   • Verify insurance information for patients.
   • Collect basic information from patients, like their contact details.
3. Data Entry:
   • Enter patient information into the system carefully and correctly.
   • Make sure the records are accurate and meet privacy rules.
4. Insurance Help:
   • Know how insurance works and be able to recognize different insurance plans.
   • Check if patients’ insurance is valid and collect needed information for billing.

Preferred Qualifications

While no experience is required for this job, it’s helpful if you have:

• Education: An Associate’s Degree (or higher)
• Experience: 2-5 years in a job where you worked with customers, data, or in healthcare
• Skills:
  • Good at staying organized
  • Able to work with patient information carefully
  • Able to talk to people clearly and be friendly
  • Comfortable using office software and learning new tools
